This isn’t the first time the Clippers low-balled Brand. When he was a restricted free agent in 2003 the Clippers made him a bullshit offer, so Brand signed an offer sheet with Miami that was incredibly front-loaded, to dissuade the Clippers from matching the deal. Brand reportedly, “called Sterling personally, begging to be let go,” and instead Sterling finally coughed up the dough and held on to his player. Then the Clippers tried to spin it as a statement about their commitment to winning, which is like a guy treating his girl like crap for years until some other dude offers her an engagement ring. Clippers, dumb dumb dumb.
